Victoria Beckham Point-Toe Flats and Velvet and Suede Platform Sandals: Walk in Her Shoes

Designer Shoes

Victoria Beckham Point-Toe Flats and Velvet and Suede Platform Sandals

When Victoria Beckham released her style guide, That Extra Half an Inch, in 2007, in which she stresses the importance of, yes, an extra half-inch when it comes to shoes, she was one year shy of becoming a designer. Eight years later, not only is she the designer of some of the most coveted ready-to-wear pieces around, she has expanded her empire to shoes. All I can say is: hurray!

Victoria knows what women want and she delivers (perhaps because she designs pieces she herself wants, first and foremost). Coming in at a leg-lengthening six inches, the velvet and suede platform sandals have a comfort-perfect pitch and display a dreamy combo of bottle-green velvet, black suede, and hot pink and tan leather piping. Then when you walk to get back down to earth for a bit, switch over to her point-toe flats. With floral appliqués, the white leather version exudes Western cool; in leopard-print calf hair, they’re as classic as they are spicy. From a whopping six inches to an easy, stacked single inch, Victoria proves she can make any amount of heel work in her favor. Platform sandalsicon, $1,695, and point-toe flats in whiteicon or leopard printicon, $2,100

Latest Obsession: Christian Louboutin Metallic Python Pumps

Designer Shoes

Louboutin

Last year, I tried desperately to get my hands on a pair of all-black patent leather Christian Louboutin So Kate Pumps. When the shoes were the hot new thing on the market, my size in basic black always sold out as soon as they came in stock. I finally got a pair of my own, and while I’ll admit they can be painful, they’re still among the sexiest pumps I own, not to mention one of the sexiest single-sole pumps on the entire luxury market. It’s been over a year since I purchased my first pair of So Kates, and now I’m contemplating another, but not just any pair: the dark, mysterious metallic python version.

The color-shifting metallic is what instantly had me hooked. The finish can range from violet to navy depending on the light, and the snakeskin texture gives these pumps a luxe finishing touch that is hard to ignore. This pair of So Kates are impactful in the grand tradition of Louboutin’s notoriously bold footwear.

Nike S/S15 Roshe Flyknit

Designer Shoes

nike_ss15-roshe-flyknit1From having sworn off anything Nike for the longest time to it being pretty much the only brand I’ve been wearing of late, it has become my go-to shoe for romps around town, sessions at the gym and even when I’m headed for the plane because nothing makes more sense than a pair of comfy sneakers, especially if it’s a long-haul flight.

And if I recall correctly, my love affair with Nike was rekindled while on a press trip to Shanghai last year when we had free time and snuck off to Nike X158, a cool concept store at Xinle Road that had stocked the coolest Nike kicks. 12 pairs later, I can safely say this. If there’s one Nike shoe I can live the rest of my life in, it would be the Rosche Flyknit, which I chanced upon in November when I was in Tokyo.

Lightweight, sleek and featuring a one-piece midsole/outsole, it’s also freaking comfortable to wear, comes in a huge array of colours (ok, some combos do work much better than others) and is quite affordable (SGD199, to be exact) by most standards. More importantly, here are the colour combos that will be available in Singapore for both men and women which will be made available from February 2015 at both Nike Paragon and Nike Shaw.
